Of large size, the stepped dentilled cresting with urn finials above eight astragal glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the projecting stepped lower section fitted with drawers, each with secretaire fittings with mahogany-lined drawers and fall-fronts above cut-cornered panelled cupboard doors enclosing drawers and shelf, raised on plinth base, locks stamped Barrons Patent, back inscribed in white chalk 0-3-25, with old depository label from South Hampton inscribed Earl Carr...

Lot Essay

The partial label may be for the Earls of Carrick in which case this breakfront may have been commissioned for Henry Thomas Butler, 2nd Earl of Carrick (1746-1813) of Co. Tipperary who married Sarah, (d. 1841) second daughter and co-heir of Col. Edward Taylor, of Askeaton, Co. Limerick.
