Lot Essay
The kidney-shaped frame was favored in Philadelphia during the Federal era. This card table features several characteristics associated with Philadelphia craftsmanship, including three fixed legs and one fly leg and flush-back construction. A related card table with a similar combination of curved hollow center, geometric ornament along the front panel, and narrowly tapered legs is illustrated in J.
