This work table presents sinuous curves and geometric casework that exemplifies a highly sophisticated and elegant form of the early nineteenth century classical style. Work tables of this type became popular in America during the later part of the eighteenth century, and while they held a practical use for storage, such decorative pieces were often displayed in the parlor.
