An unusual British teddy bear with Unity Southport label
of black mohair, brown and black glass eyes, pronounced muzzle, white stitched nose and mouth, side facing ears, swivel head, jointed limbs with rippled rexine pads and 'Quality Productions - Unity - Southport' white and red label on foot, 1940s --13½in. (34cm.) high (bald spots of face and chets, some general wear and fading)

Lot Essay

An internet search shows that the Unity Theatre was formed in 1944 in Merseyside, part of the Unity Theatre movement. It is possible that this bear was manufactured for promotional reasons.
