Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. Jan Kosten and Otto Naumann for suggesting the attribution. The former compares the painting to an autograph work by Van Mieris of the same subject in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Marijke de Kinkelder of the RKD is of the opinion that the landscape is also by Willem van Mieris.
