Château Haut-Brion--Vintage 1988
Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
In original wooden case
Rich and deep in colour, this is still surprisingly purple (tasted Jan 2000). The aromas are opulent and spicy, though not yet fully apparent. This is a slumbering Haut-Brion, undoubtedly impressive in structure and aftertaste, yet presently its acidity and tannins hide the fruit and silkiness. Needs 3-5 years. A.H.
