Cal 25''' frosted gilt movement with free standing barrel, bimetallic balance with blued steel spring and poised handle bar pallets, polished cuvette, white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands, the massive nickel case with hinged front cover and polished rear cover, together with winding key and copy of extract from the archives stating the watch was sold on the 18th July 1869, case signed and numbered

Lot Essay

Patek Philippe 8 Day Watches are rare, the other known example is on public display in the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. Long duration movements are more associated with watches used on board ships for navigational purposes.
