Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin, original fitted brown leather presentation box and WM Hawkes & Son, 50-52 Walton Street, London SW3 service bill dated 10th October 1957. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1949 and its subsequent sale on 17th May 1950. To the best of our knowledge this watch has never been offered in public before.
The production of the simple chronograph with reference 130 was launched in 1934 and made in different precious metal versions as well as in stainless steel. It is interesting to note that the lugs of the stainless steel model are different from the yellow, pink or white gold ones. Their slightly thicker but shorter layout gives the watch a rather tonneau-shaped design and a more sportive, robust and masculine look. The superb two-tone silvered dial of the present watch is an exquisite example of Patek Philippe dial design of the late 1940s. According to the family, the watch was an expensive graduation present for the young recipient and equal to the price of a Buick car at this time. It was used sparingly and well cared for which is evident by the exceptional case condition and sharp profile. The Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives is interesting as it matches the original certificate date indicating that the watch was purchased directly from the Patek Philippe Boutique in Geneva in 1950.
The watch with its beautiful and original condition and impeccable provenance represents a rare opportunity for the discerning collector to purchase a fine example of a reference 130, in addition still retaining the original certificate, envelope, presentation box and service bill.
