A Japanese brass and shitan wood striking table clock with alarm
Unsigned. Second quarter 19th Century
The peony-engraved dial with stationary chapter ring and revolving blued steel hour hand, inner alarm sector, the dial plate with twin calendar window, turned columns to each angle, open sides, movement with twin gut fusees, going train with twin foliots and verge escapement, strike with countwheel visible in the cut out in the envraved backplate, strike and alarm trains wound from the back, the case with peony-engraved and pierced brass frets to the glazed sides, sliding front and rear covers, brass handle to top
