The case decorated overall with raised gilt Chinoiserie figures on a black ground, with gilt and silvered foliate cast brass handle to the top with pierced ebony gallery sound fret, glazed sides, the plinth set with a drawer and supported on brass claw feet, the 8¼in. square dial signed James Boyce London on the silvered chapter ring with sword hilt half hour markers, later blued steel hands, the matted centre with wheatear engraved decoration to the calendar and mock pendulum apertures, ringed winding holes, the movement with five ring-turned pillars - four pinned, one latched - twin wire fusees, verge escapement, re-built knife-edge verge escapement, restored pull quarter repeat on five bells via five hammers, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage with strapwork and centred by a basket of flowers and a bird; movement and case possibly associated
