A George I ebony veneered striking table clock with pull quarter repeat

The case with silver foliate-tied handle (later?) to the inverted bell top, heavy mouldings, the glazed sides with D-ended pierced ebony frets, similar frets to the front door with silver escutcheons, the dial signed Windmills London on an oval planished reserve in the matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, silvered chapter ring with sword hilt half hour markers and lozenge half quarter markers, Pierced blued steel hands, crown-and-sceptre spandrels, foliate engraving to the base of the dial plate and to the arch set with a silvered calendar ring with blued steel hand and matted centre, the movement with thick brass rectangular plates secured by five ring-turned pillars, twin gut fusees, restored verge escapement with later-styled backcock, restored pull quarter repeat on six bells via six hammers and with hour strike on a further large bell, the backplate typically engraved with tight foliage with intertwining scrolls centred by a basket of fruit above a foliate cartouche signed Jos Windmills London
