The case decorated with raised gilt foliage on a red lacquered ground, the domed top surmounted and flanked by pineapple and crescent brass finials, handles to the glazed sides, brass-capped detached columns, the convex-moulded base with wavy apron, the dial signed Francis Perigal London on a silvered reserve in the matted centre, later silvered chaper ring (originally with Turkish chapters) with later blued steel hands, matted centre with calendar aperture, foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring to the arch, the movement with five pillars, twin fusees with wire lines, later anchor escapement, hour strike on a bell and pull quarter repeat on six bells via six hammers, the backplate profusely engraved with foliage and signed Francis Perigal London
