FIRST EDITION, of Richardson's follow-up to the success of Pamela. In this copy, E2 in vol. III, M5 in vol. V, and E10 in vol. VI are cancels, L12 in vol. VI is excised with the revised text continued on M1; line two from the bottom of p. 149 in vol. IV is uncorrected and reads "all owed," and vols. III and IV are in the first state with the "Preface" is included in vol. IV. Grolier English 47; Rothchild 1748.
