LIMITED EDITION, number 8 of 150 copies. The cost of this extravagant book was rumored to have been so huge that after J. Pierpont Morgan's death, his executors cancelled all uncompleted orders, leaving the compiler Dr. Williamson in financial straits. The objets d'art illustrated include rings, rosaries and rosary beads, reliquaries, necklaces, pendant jewels, silver and niello medallions, portrait medallions, ivory and enamelled caskets, buttons, seals, chalices, cups, perfume bottles, vases, clocks, a cabinet and a chest of drawers. With a presentation leaf in manuscript from Charles Ryskamp to Jane Engelhard, reading: "For Jane Engelhard Defender of the Faith, Defender of the Pierpont Morgan Library; Well-deserving of the Golden Chain of Honor and the Order of Grace from Charles Ryskamp June 1976" and with an ANS from Ryskamp laid-in.
