2 volumes, 4o (250 x 196 mm). Half-titles. 250 woodcut plates, 4 folding engraved plates, 190 illustrations of botanical detail (some occasional pale spotting.) 19th-century half calf (rubbed).

FIRST EDITION. This was the most important work on trees and shrubs to appear since the first publication of John Evelyn's Sylva in 1664.
