Lot Essay

For an example of the mark see: Catalogue of the exhibition, Catalogus van Zilverwerken Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Nijmegen 1958, no. 45, p. 92.

The four candlesticks are from a set of six, the other two were made by Jan Willem Burgers, The Hague, 1772 (private Parisian collection). The present four Arnhem sticks were presumably copied later from the Burgers pair by Daniel Courou.
