The moulded arched hood with pierced sound frets to the frieze and sides, surmounted by gilt wood figural finials, the hood with pilasters headed by brass Corinthian capitals above a bow fronted arched trunkdoor with gilt brass mounted lenticle, the case with canted angles, bombé plinth on lion's mask feet. The brass dial and arcaded chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds, date aperture and partially silvered plaque inscribed H. SMIT AMSTELDAM, pierced steel hands, the corners with selection rings for SLAAN/NIET SLAAN, SPELEN/NIET SPELEN and subsidiary rings for months and days, painted rolling moonphase and arch for selection of twelve tunes, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement, Dutch strike on two bells, the musical train with twenty-eight hammers on fourteen bells, 22 cm. long pinned barrel; three large weights, pendulum and cranck key
