A George II oak thirty hour longcase clock
John Inkpen, Horsham. Circa 1740
The 10¾ in. square brass dial with Indian mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, matted centre engraved with a bird and signed on a reserve Jno. Inkpen/Horsham, with date aperture below, blued steel hands, the movement with four ringed pillars, chains driven, anchor escapement and rack strike/trip repeat on bell; restored cheekboards, possibly associated, weight, counterweight, pendulum -- 80.3./4 in. (205 cm.) high
