This unusual example of a work in progress with extensive drawn out yet unstitched areas show the adept draughtsmanship which created patterns for embroidered works. One could imagine how the completed piece could look. The presently blank spaces would likely have been decorated with the typical naturalistic motifs such as animals, bugs, butterflies, grubs and snails.
