A Grand Tour fan, the 1776 Erruption of Vesuvius
the leaf painted with a theatrical scene, the verso with travellers visiting the ruins of the Temple of Seraphide in Pozzuli and two smaller vignettes of the Vesuvius errupting by night, the foot of the leaf is arranged as an uncut cabriolet with three smaller vignettes, two of the erruption, the upper vignettes are inscribed in Italian, the ivory sticks carved and pierced with figures - 10in. (26cm.), circa 1780 (worn)
