The Belgian painter and graphic artist Jan Govaerts painted his figures, sea sights and landscapes in a strong, lyric impressionism. Because his studio was located near the sea, at the Zeedijk in Ostend, this made it possible for the artist to record the sea on every moment of day, in every season.
