Each with a square top decorated with a shaped square panel of figures in a watery landscape, surrounded by foliate panels, the corners hung with bells, on a simulated bamboo giltwood base with central column and X-shaped legs with splayed feet, refreshments to the decoration on the tops

Lot Essay

An identical pair of tables with painted bases was supplied to The 2nd Viscount Rothermere for Daylesford House, Gloucestershire under the guidance of the decorator, John Fowler (d.1977). The latter was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 10 April 2003, lot 157.
