The case in the form of an elderly bearded man in hat and long coat, in carved wood and polychrome painted gesso, with fixed left arm and metal hand gripping a rod, moving right arm for current increase, flanking 1d. coin slot on upper chest and central circular dial, on plain small canted corner base, German circa 1875-80 -24½in. (62.2cm.) high

Inside the hollow body, accessed from the back, is a two-air musical box movement, which is wound from underneath the right arm and activated when a 1d. piece is inserted. The maker of this machine is unknown, however, a metal cased and painted figure of a pig is known called, Le Cochon Electriseur Automatic by the Socitete Generale Francaise D'Automatiques, Paris. Although of a different form, the pig example has a similar dial and coin slot location.
