The plain bowl with a reeded rim and on a spreading foot, engraved underneath with an inscription, the spoon with a shaped handle, engraved with an initial 'W' below a Royal Duke's coronet, marked under bowl and on back of spoon, contained in a fitted case and with a card from Barnwell Manor, Peterborough inscribed in an unknown hand 'From Lady Margaret Hawkins Godmother'
the bowl 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) diam.

The inscription reads 'W.H.A.F. from M.H. 22.2.1942.'

The initial on the spoon is that of H.R.H. Prince William of Gloucester (1941-1972). (2)
Provenance
Given to Prince William of Gloucester on the occasion of his christening by his godmother and maternal aunt Lady Margaret Hawkins (1893-1976), eldest daughter of John, 7th Duke of Buccleuch K.T. (1864-1935) and wife of Admiral Sir Geoffrey Hawkins (1895-1980).
