MARK OF JOHAN KÜSEL, STOCKHOLM, CIRCA 1670
Straight sided and on three gilt foliate scroll and fruiting feet, each capped with a gilt fruiting vine and cupid support, with a parcel-gilt scroll handle, chased with fruiting vines, the hinged cover engraved with foliate scroll and set with a coin depicting Charles XI, King of Sweden (r. 1660-1697) and his wife Ulrica Eleanor Oldenburg, daughter of Frederick III of Denmark, dated 1680, the base engraved with initals 'N.L.S.', marked underneath, with an envelope printed with the Royal coat-of-arms and inscribed in an unknown hand 'William Henry Andrew Frederick From his Godmother Helena Victoria Feb. 22 1942'
