Lot Essay

Sir Julien Cahn (d.1944) was Master of the Burton Hunt from 1926-1935, the Woodland-Pytchley 1935-37 and the Fernie 1937-39. The Fernies country lies in Leicestershire, south of the Quorn, and was originally part of the Quorn. In 1856 William Ward Tailby secured approval to hunt the south Quorn and Cottesmore woodlands, building at Billesdon one of the most lavish kennels in England.
