The tapestry bearing the badge and motto of Edward, Prince of Wales, later Edward VII was woven at Merton Abbey, the Surrey workshops established in 1881 by William Morris (d.1896) (see H.C. Marillier, History of the Merton Abbey Tapestry Works, 1927).
