He adapted to the styles and conventions of Eton 'with remarkable ease' and began drilling with the Eton Officers' Training Corps in September 1914. He went into tails at the beginning of 1915 and won his Eton 'lower boat colour' in 1917. Prince Henry went to Sandhurst in May 1918; he obtained a commission as a second lietenant in His Majesty's Land Forces on 16 July 1919, and went up to Cambridge as an undergraduate in October 1919.
