A CHINESE IVORY CARVING OF GUANYIN; AND A CANTON CARVED TORTOISESHELL CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
The goddess carved standing, holding a scroll in her left hand, wearing a loose robe and cawl, her face with downcast eyes and benign expression, the ivory with well-handled yellowish patina, 18th/19th century, 7¾ in. (19.8 cm.) high; the box carved in deep relief on the top with an equestrian and a boat amongst trees and buildings, and on the base in shallow relief with figures at leisure in a garden, early 19th century, 4¼ in. (10.7 cm.) diam. (2)
