Hand-coloured frontispiece, portrait of the author, 70 hand-coloured plates designed by Robert Cruikshank, one full-page woodcut, woodcut vignettes. (Some light spotting and offsetting.) Contemporary red morocco gilt binding by Zaehnsdorf (very slight discolouration at top of spine). FIRST EDITION. Issued in 24 monthly parts, Abbey dismisses the idea of there being a second issue. This copy, as all others examined by Abbey, has those points attributed to the 'first issue'. Abbey Life 325; Tooley 504.

(Some light spotting and browning, a little light soiling.) Contemporary red half-morocco, gilt spine by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, original pictorial wrappers bound in (wrappers soiled). 'An attack on the administration of the Commander-in-Chief's office under the Duke of Wellington' (BMC); and another 5 works in 6 volumes, all finely bound, including John Masefield's Right Royal (1922) and Whyte's History of the British Turf (1840, 2 vols).
