Polished calf by Thomas Gosden, blind panel on covers gilt-tooled with figure of a wildfowler beneath a tree and fisherman's basket at corners, spine lettered in gilt and tooled in blind, marbled endpapers and edges (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: C.F.G.R. Schwerdt (bookplate; his sale, 10 July 1939, lot 1582).
