Georgina Bowers' career began in 1866. She concentrated mainly on hunting and romantic subjects, drawing on incidents she had witnessed and her 'own varied adventures with horse and hound'. Her work appeared regularly in 'Punch' where she became 'by far the most important lady artist who ever worked for [the magazine]' (Spielman, The History of Punch, London, 1895, pp.529-30). (12)
