'Bun', a Steiff centre seam teddy bear
with rich golden curly mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped snout, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, elongated jointed shaped limbs and hump --20in. (51cm.) tall, circa 1905 (additional stitching to nose, pads recovered, small tear and hole to snout, wear to mohair around and below eyes, slight overall matting to mohair); four black and white photographs of previous owner with her daughter and 'Bun', one dated 1912, one dated 1929; four autograph letters, signed, to Mrs Yeoman, previous owner, from the late Lt. Col. 'Bob' Henderson, mentioning 'Bun' and the activities of the bear world,
...I am so glad you told me about 'Bun'. I look forward to meeting you both at the end of June or early July. You are undoubtedly an arctophilist and must be a member of 'The Teddy Bear Club' ....If a saint can be comforted by a bear, surely a sinner can be comforted by a Teddy!...I have just received a letter from Peter Bull. He says he may publish his book 'Bear with me'...1pp ...My best wishes to both you and 'Bun'...1pp ...It was good to hear that both you and 'Bun' are still going strong. Here is a notice of the Red Cross Bazaar and Teddy Bear Competition being held in the Assembly Rooms...it would be lovely if you could join the party...In time these may well become Junior Groups of the 'Good Bears of the World', so I enclose for your information a note on this newly created international humanitarian organisation...With every good wish to you both...1pp ...Greetings to you and 'BUN'.
