In 1972-1973, Miró worked on a series of large format etchings with aquatint, which were published by Sala Gaspar in 1973 in a portfolio called Barcelona.
The present work is a preparatory drawing for the last etching of the series. The print is extraordinary large, so is the drawing, and is certainly one of the biggest etching Miró ever produced.
