Lot Essay

Although bearing labels inscribed in Italian, this suite is extremely similar to other contempory seating furniture in the Spanish Royal Collections, particularly four mahogany and parcel-gilt fauteuils from the Antecámera del Salón del Trono at the Palace of La Granja (see L. Feduchi, Colecciones reales de españa: el meuble, Madrid, 1965, nos. 97-100). These and additional examples are also today in the Fuente Room, the Marble Salon and the Throne Room of La Granja (see J. A. Hernández Ferrero, The Royal Palaces of Spain, Madrid, 1997, plates 315, 320 and 326-327).
