The hood with outset fluted columns and with pierced later cresting, with female mask and foliate spandrels to the 12in. dial with engraved borders, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleuur-de-lys half hour and diamond half quarter hour markers, matted centre with ringed winding holes and date aperture, blued steel later hands, signed on a silvered disc in the arch JOHN/AYLWARD/GUILFORD, the six pillar movement with latched dial feet, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; movement with adaptations
