The servants of Kasteel Amerongen wore this livery at the arrival of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany in November 1918. After the Great War Wilhelm II fled Germany and went into exile in the Netherlands, which had remained neutral throughout the war. The erstwhile Kaiser first settled in Amerongen and lived at Kasteel Amerongen for one year.
