The oval plate within an egg-and-dart border and an over-lapping scallop-shell cresting with acanthus scrolls and centred by a Neptune mask, trailing foliate sprays and acorns with oak leaves, with a pendant scroll apron, regilt, bearing a part-label 'PARK...THE DEPOSITORIES PORTSMOUTH...DATE...NUMBER...NAME'

The mirror pattern appears to have been inspired by a Neptune-headed pier glass, bearing the feather badge of Frederick, Prince of Wales (d.1751), that was acquired in 1911 by the Victoria and Albert Museum. The shell and badge on the Wales pier glass related to the Prince's barge, designed by the architect William Kent (d. 1748)( R. Edwards, The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, London, 1964, p. 364, fig. 41 and J. Vardy, Some Designs of Mr. Inigo Jones and Mr. William Kent, London, 1744).
