Details
BORDEAUX VINTAGE 1982

The 1982 Bordeaux vintage was possibly the most consistent post-war (until we reached the new Millenium) and the very best wines of this vintage are now coming of age at over 21 years in bottletime to consume these stunning wines.

The 1982 vintage has long been considered a benchmark year and one which has always caught the attention of collectors and connoisseurs around the globe. It seemed logical then to commence our first evening sale sale with a small selction of some of the best.

Pétrus justifiably leads the pack; a rich, merlot-filled glass of wine that packs the real punch of this powerful vintage. Château Cheval Blanc of Saint Emilion is clearly a contender and after 1947 maybe the greatest vintage from this estate.

On the other side of the Gironde, the Médoc is represented here by the super-seconds of Châteaux Cos d'Estournel and Léoville Las-Cases.

Later in the sale amonst the large formats, you will find double-magnums of Château Latour 1982, consigned directly from the cellars of Latour for this sale.

All lots are in original wooden cases.

"A spectacular performance for this wine, Cos d'Estournel's 1982 exhibits a dark ruby/purple color with light pink at the rim. Sweet aromas of jammy black fruits intermixed with roasted espresso and vanillin jump from the glass of this young, concentrated, full-bodied, succulent effort. An opulent texture, low acidity, and splendidly pure, concentrated, blackberry and cassis fruit suggest this 1982 can be drunk now, or cellared for another 15-20 years. An awesome wine!"
