DE VOGÜÉ

Comte Georges de Vogüé is by far the largest land owner in Musigny, holding nearly seventy percent of the total area. Musigny is often described as the merger of lacey finesse and subtle power. De Vogüé ideally represents the synthesis of these two elements. Access to a large number of plots allows careful selection of grapes to produce the form of Musigny. A down period during the late 70s and early 80s was ended by a mammoth 1990 Musigny, Vieilles Vignes which should prove to be an immortal wine. It started a string of great success for the property during the 90s. Only vines thirty years or older may yield fruit for the Vieilles Vignes Musigny, as younger vines from this grand cru go into a Chambolle Musigny, premier cru bottling, which is a good buy and often superior to other producers grand crus.
