The hood with arched cresting flanked by giltwood ball and spire finials, inset fluted columns and glazed side panels, with breakarch trunk door and on stepped plinth, the 12 in. wide white painted dial with flower spandrels to vertical Roman chapters, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arched date aperture, signed RICH.D WALTER/GODSTONE, brass hands, the arch decorated with conch shells, false plate stamped FRANCIS to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 85½ in. (217 cm.) high; pendulum, 2 weights, crank key
