In the form of a railway freight carriage carrying coal and painted with N B R to the sides, the hinged top revealing a divisioned interior and ash tray,

Lot Essay

The 'North British Railway' originally connected Berwick and Edinburgh with a branch to Haddington. It was later extended to providing lines to Dundee, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews, Carlisle. It was amalgamated in to the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923.
