Lot Essay

Peter Strausfeld (1910-1980), produced a series of distinctive posters for the Academy Cinema on Oxford Street, which closed in the early 1980s. Over 300 posters for various films were designed in all, and in the early years only a maximum of 100 were printed for each title; in the mid-1970s this run increased to 300.
