Chromolithographed titles and 301 chromolithographed and tinted plates (all foxed to a greater or lesser extent). Original red hardgrain morocco over wooden boards, spine ornately gilt in compartments, both covers ornately gilt with entrelac patterns and intricate floral ornaments, central oval with gilt title, roundels at the corners containing shields bearing the names of the four principal continents, gilt edges (new yellow watered silk endpapers, a few very neat repairs). Provenance: Walter Macfarlane, Saracen foundry (near contemporary signature on titles). FIRST EDITION. (3)
