FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, with publisher's catalogue in the earlier state. The story originally appeared as a serial in Pearson's Magazine with illustrations by Warwick Goble. The radio version of 1940 is remembered for being so realistically contrived by Orson Welles that many listeners panicked in the belief that a genuine Martian invasion was taking place.
