With a 12-page publicity flyer (253 x 191mm) for the same book with collage-style artwork, including images of Chopping's other 'Bond' covers, a photo and potted biography of Fleming, and a detailed breakdown of 'The Publicity Campaign' for the novel. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed on the cover in biro: 'A present to Crispin from Dicky with thanks for do [sic] us proud. Richard W. Chopping'.
With 5 other 'Bond' books (four first editions) signed or inscribed by Chopping, and five other books featuring jacket or cover artwork by Chopping.
Richard Chopping provided the jacket artwork for nine of Ian Fleming's 'James Bond' books, as well as John Gardner's '007' thriller, Licence Renewed (1981). The jackets combined Chopping's meticulous trompe-l'oeil paintings with stark, stencilled lettering and are widely acknowledged as classics of modern design. (12)
