Lot Essay

The above letters are players' accounts of matches, including the 1966 World Cup Final and the 1953 F.A. Cup Final. Geoff Hurst writes, "I was just pleased to be there at all, playing in the final itself was a bonus", and Jack Charlton comments on the moment before kick-off - "Said a little prayer, smiled at Bobby Moore, shouted at Nobby, then it started". Discussing Blackpool's victory in the 1953 F.A. Cup Final, Robinson writes, "all the players had certainly earned their £20 bonus ... what's money when you have a Cup winners medal in your hand"
