Lot Essay

In 2002, Husain created a suite of works revisiting themes from Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's 1917 novel, Devdas. The novel was adapted into several film renditions, the most recent also in 2002. The courtesan Chandramukhi, is one of the main heroines here depicted in the midst of a whirling dance.
