Tasting Note: At the start of the last decade, in bottles, starting to shed some of its colour, fragrant, though peppery, but in grands formats still deep with youthful ruby colour, the first, a jeroboam in 1994 tasted blind with other top '79 Pomerols: a 'powerhouse', full of fruit and tannin. A year later, between the '78 and '88, all in imperials like some praetorian guard: crisp fruit on nose and palate, 'classic', tannic - it was better with food. Both at Rodenstock wine weekends, the last in Sept 1995. **** M.B.
