A Suit of Armor with an Okegawa Do
Edo period (19th century)
Laced in white with orange trim and lacquered black, with a twenty-four plate russet-iron suji bachi with a five-stage gilt-copper and shakudo tehen kanamono, fitted with a five-lame solid-plate neck guard, the turnbacks and helmet peak applied with stencilled leather, maedate a gold-lacquer jewel; the face mask with a three-lame solid throat guard attached with doe skin; the cuirass a solid five-plate hinged okegawa do (constructed of horizontal plates) decorated with stencilled leather on the muna ita and waki ita and fitted with seven sections of five-lame solid-plate tassets; five-lame solid-plate chu-sode; chain mail sleeves; lacquered-leather thigh guards; russet-iron splint shin guards; paper saiha; one storage box; no armor stand
